  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup canola oil

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

  • 1 cup sourdough starter

Combine all dry ingredients together in a medium sized bowl. In a separate bowl combine wet ingredients.

Make a crater in the dry ingredients and slowly pour in the wet ingredients. Mix until combined. The batter should be cake similar to a cake batter consistency. If the batter is too thick, add a small amount of water or buttermilk until the consistency is met.

Use the waffle iron according to the manufacturer instructions for baking.

Eat with your favorite toppings, like fresh fruit and whipped cream. I settled for maple syrup and butter, since I didn’t have any fresh fruit or whipped cream in the fridge this morning.
